Are there any significant differences between CAS & LSP at NYU?

I am an international student and plan to start my freshman year in fall 2011.
I applied NYU for ED and NYU sent me its decision letter yesterday.
It says that they cannot offer me the admission for CAS, which I originally applied to.
However, they can offer me the admission for LSP--Liberal Studies Program.
So now, I am wondering what's the difference between them?
Is there anyone who is studying in LSP now or plan to go to LSP?
LSP cannot be applied and just the one whom the admission committees choose can study in it.
I have a friend who graduated from NYU told me that she recommends to accept it because the class is very small(fewer than 25 people) and I can get much more chances to talk to faculties. When she was at NYU, she really envied the students who study at LSP.
On the other side, my sister who is studying at NYU now tells me that if I want to transfer to Stern at my junior year, she recommends me not accepting this decision.
Actually Stern is my parents' favourite but I'm not that interested in it.
Also, NYU is my dream school so I really want to accept this decision.
Since I originally applied to CAS and NYU cannot give me the admission for CAS, the ED binding is no longer working.

So, do you guys have any suggestions?
