Are there Excellent smaller universities in Canada

Are there Excellent smaller universities in Canada. My son is a dual citizen and , although undecided, is interested in Science and liberal arts education, also possibly Engineering or Business. We would most interested in Schools within a days drive of New England. Any advice.

I'd recommend you go to http://www.macleans.ca/universities (the Canadian equivalent of US News Rankings) and look under "Primarily Undergraduate Universities". That will give you a complete ranking and list of the "smaller" Canadian U's.

St. Francis Xavier, Mt. Allison, Acadia and Bishop's are probably the best ranked schools in your area.

I also have the paper edition of the magazine which provides a lot more information than does the web version, so I will give you some schools on that list with student populations under 7000 that are near NE:

Bishop's University (Lennoxville, Que.) - 2,165
Trent University (Peterborough, Ont.) - 6,038
St. Francis Xavier (Antigonish, NS) - 4,215
Mt. Allison (Sackville, NB) - 2,200
St. Thomas (Fredricton, NB) - 2,100
St. Mary's (Halifax, NS) - 6,346
Acadia (Wolfville, NS) - 4,074
Moncton (Edmunston, NB) - 5,027

I don't know much about what these schools offer in terms of programs, courses, majors, etc., but hopefully that will give you a starting point.

McGills pretty big but i had a friend whos sister went to This other campus of McGill its very smalL!! and as u kno its in Montreal

wat i mean is the other campus then the McGill campus is very big and really in the city i think the other one is on the outskirts of Montreal

WE HAVE LOOKED AT MCGILL, WATERLOO, GUELPH, MCMASTER AND QUEENS; BUT MY SON WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AT THE SMALLER UNIVERSITIES NOW. i PERSONALLY THINK THAT THE ABOVE SCHOOL MIGHT BE BETTER FOR HIM, ESPECIALLY SINCE HE COULD CHANGE HIS MAJOR WITH NOW PROBLEM, AND HE MIGHT BE APPLYING TO MEDICAL SCHOOL. wHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK. wOULD GOING TO A SMALLER UNIVERISTY AFFECT HIS CHANCES OF GETTING INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL. THANKS

the small campus: MacDonald i think? Downtown is the bigger but there is like 500 on MacDonald campus

St. Francis Xavier (Antigonish, NS) - 4,215
Mt. Allison (Sackville, NB) - 2,200
Acadia (Wolfville, NS) - 4,074

These are the most respected colleges in terms of name recognition in this type of school, somewhat similar to a US LAC.
