Are There Standardized Tests that Don't Matter?

What tests do matter? What don’t?

CAHSEE in California for high school graduation. You get lots of tries, and eventually almost every one passes. Class of '17 took it for the first time this past spring, and by the time they graduate (probably even for Class of '16), the state will say it isn’t required to graduate. Probably won’t be given to the Class of '18.

  1. Most state standardized tests. The ones in my state ended up not mattering at all for me.
  2. TOEFL (if you're a native English speaker)

If you mean for college, whatever ones are not used by the colleges that you are applying to.

IQ

Unless you make the score cutoff for NMSF/NASF, then PSAT is useless for college admissions.

^ PSAT is useless for 98% of kids.

Thank you all so much!!!

PARCC/HSPA (for college admission)

I have found that currently standardized tests (the ACT and SAT) matter the most. SAT II can matter as well to universities who ask for it. AP scores may show that you are proficient, but do not seem to matter very much for the admission process, like any unnecessary SAT II scores. The PSAT can be used in eleventh grade in contest for a scholarship.
