Are these activities 'legit'?

i used to do swimming, ice skating, guitar, and flute
swimmnig - 4 years
everything else one year each
i was in my school band for guitar & flute
i took classes for swimming & ice skating
i have certificates for swimming

HOWEVER, i had all of these things BEFORE middle school. are they legit enough to put on my 'activities' page on my application?

Thank you so much!

PS. please chance if you have time (= I'll chance back!

Generally speaking, unless you accomplished something truly amazing prior to high school, ec activities are those done in high school. Activities you did in elementary school do not belong on a college app.

I wouldn’t put anything on your application unless you did it during high school. Being a member of a swim team at age 8 and at age 18 are completely different things. Unless you specific the ages of participation, it would be misleading (and unethical) to put 4 years of swimming on your application (as it would be assumed those 4 years are Freshman through Senior year of high school). If you did note that those 4 years were from ages 5 to 9, an admissions counselor would ignore them (for the same reason they don’t ask for your middle school transcripts).
