I’m taking these AP classes: Psych, Microeconomics, and English Language, and Human Geography (junior year). Will colleges pay attention to/care about these classes? They’re all supposed to be really easy ap classes.
AP Lang, if taught correctly, is not an easy class. But that varies by teacher.
AP Psych and APHG are not viewed as rigorous as AP Physics C or Calc BC, but they are still AP classes.
The bigger issue may be if you are giving up a core subject to jam in 3 social studies classes.
What about microeconomics? Its a pretty hard class for me, but its worth it if colleges like the class.
AP psychology covers similar material as in a one semester college course.
AP microeconomics covers similar material as in a one semester or part of one semester college course.
AP human geography is widely seen as one of the least difficult AP courses.
AP Language is great. AP Psych good. APHG most colleges will not even take as transfer credit, so that tells you what they think about it. My son passed it with a 5 without even taking the course or even studying (he is a good test taker and his school has a Eastern geography course that had some of the curriculum he took in 9th grade). I would try to add a challenging AP in the sciences or one of the more respected ones: Government/Macroeconomics/Physics/Chem/Bio/Stats. AP Micro is well respected and accepted by most institutions. Whether most colleges accept AP credit for a course tells you how they feel about the level of rigor (AP Environmental Science, as an example, is taken by few instituations). On another thought process, make sure you can get good grades. In some ways, the higher WGPA can help more than the exact courseload. It depends on the school.
I’ll try to score high on all the tests and apply to my local university (it transfers all the above courses). Thanks to everyone - I was doubting if I took too many easy AP classes.
Micro is a valuable class.
