Are these good gifts for teachers?

I wanted to buy two of my teachers Christmas presents - my AP World teacher and my AP Environmental teacher, both of whom I had last year, and both of whom were willing to write me letters of recommendation for college.

I didn't want to get them gift cards because I felt like gift cards are kind of a default gift if you need to get gifts for a long list of people you don't really know.

I bought them books. They're both hardcover -

for my AP World teacher - I got him a book that is a compilation of classic rock posters from around the world, years 1951 - 2013. He's a die hard Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones fan so I thought this was appropriate. Last year, he used to tell me his favorite songs from different rock bands.

for my AP Environmental teacher - I got her a very large reference book which basically shows high definition photos of all parts of the Earth with detailed descriptions of different forests, mountain ranges, marine trenches, etc -- basically the series "Planet Earth" but in book form. It has a white cover and literally says "Earth" right in the middle.

Do you think these are creative enough or should I've just gone for the gift card thing?

Those are great gifts, and I think they’ll appreciate it. I normally don’t get my teachers gifts, but I’ve had some exceptional teachers this year, so I got all four of them gifts, and got them each something tailored for their personal interests instead of just getting them chocolate or whatever. I could tell they really appreciated the thoughtfulness, so I think your teachers will think the same of you, preamble.
