Hello yes i am like other kids in here who feels like they couldn't fit in socially yet in the beginning of freshman year and the social environment isn't what i want it to be but i think the top reasons for me to transfer are
1. i am interested in paralegal studies something that my school doesn't have
2. the second major that i want is finance and the business school in my university accepts less than 100 people a year and there are 40000 undergrads which no doubt there are a lot of competition so i don't think i could get a spot. i am not willing to gamble
3. my advisor tried to push me into another college to major in like agriculture management or something so i reluctantly switched to economics and i don't want to graduate with an economics degree
4. even if i want to try to switch in i am required to take courses in my college which is (food and agriculture college) my curriculum is so not flexible if i transfer out later i would have to take these food science courses with me that i wouldn't know how to fit in with my business or paralegal degree even if i stay and get in into my current business college I would have to stay longer to finish the degree because i was wasting my time taking food science courses

my family has been trying to get me stay saying things like just find your niches/friends and stuff but then when i think of it objectively i feel like transferring out might be a better option i think career wise many employers look at the majors than the school so if i want to be an auditor i need to major in finance and major in paralegal if i want to be a paralegal

so i am doubting my rationality cux the social environment is also a factor do you think i am rational enough to judge for myself and these reasons are good reasons to leave?

First, it is too soon. And you have plenty of time. Both to decide if the school you attend is right for you and to choose your major.

Second, I personally have never heard of a paralegal major. Could you tell a little more about what that is?

Third, why is your advisor pushing you to the agricultural college? It's hard to say how that would work for either of your intended majors. Not knowing what a paralegal major is, I don't want to advise. But for pre-law, you would likely be better off in the Arts & Sciences College than in any other.

What college (or type of college. if you don't want to identify it?) are you at now; and what colleges do you want to transfer into, if you do?

Don't doubt your rationality; I'm sure you are rational. But it is too soon to judge for yourself whether you need to make a transfer. Give it time. You can evaluate the reasons and whether you want to later.

Right now, believe it or not, your parents are partially right. Focus on finding people you enjoy. Focus on making sure you have the right courses and are in the right college. If your advisor is off the mark in what you want to do, you might want to seek other advice. Or meet with the advisor again to clarify your goals.

i am currently in the university of minnesota and i am trying to transfer into suffolk university in boston for paralegal studies, a paralegal helps out the attorney and does what the attorney does but just does not have a law license suffolk has a good law reputation and is one of a handful of colleges that offers a four year paralegal degree. and the minimum gpa to be consider for transfer is 2.5 and their average gpa is 2.95. Some people might think i am dumb for transferring out of a big ten university out to a low tier school but that was the problem i relied too heavily on ranking. it is kind of funny how the previous poster ask me to not doubt my rationality and then go and doubt my rationality by saying that i am not sure of whether this is the good school/ideal major for me. i am not looking to prelaw. and the thing with advising first i chose a major that i highly regret now so i ended up in the agriculture college, my advisor offered various business related majors but are really not business majors so i am stuck in that college with not much hope of transferring out of it. and how long should i wait shouldn't a semester be long enough?

I know what a paralegal is, but didn't realize there was a college major for it. Suffolk has a great reputation for this kind of thing, I agree. It does sound like a transfer might be right for you, now that you've explained how you ended up where you are and that you are pretty certain of wanting to do the paralegal thing.

Have you checked Suffolk's transfer policies and whether you could go there next term? If it's possible, why not go ahead and apply? Then you can have the option unless something changes radically and you want to stay where you are.
