Are these IB subjects good for engineering?

I’m planning on pursuing mechanical, computer (hardware!) or electrical engineering. My current subjects are:

  1. HL Math
  2. HL Physics
  3. HL Economics
  4. SL Chemistry
  5. SL English Language and Literature
  6. SL Spanish ab initio

Are these subjects okay? Should I make any changes (SL to HL, vice versa)? Should I take computer science rather than chemistry?

Yes. Math and physics is a key for engineering.

I will post what you already know. Math, physics, and computer science are good for engineering majors. You will likely need to write code by the time you get into junior/senior college years of engineering. I wouldn’t worry about it all that much. You can take calculus and computer science classes freshman year. There are students who decide on an engineering major whose high schools do not offer calculus or CS.

Hi, thanks for the reply, either way, that means my current subjects are perfectly fine for applying into engineering right?

You should apply for engineering if you’re actually GOOD at those subjects – not simply because they’re on your transcript.

In answer to your question…yes that is a good course load. Keep in mind for schools like Stanford you not only need those classes on your transcript but you need to get A’s too. Good luck!

Hahaha, yes I love these subjects and I am getting A’s as of now. Thanks for the support guys!
