Are these schools generous with their financial aid for international students?
Kenyon
St. Lawrence
Sarah Lawrence
Colorado College
Davidson
I know all these schools do provide financial assistance of some kinds for internationals, but do they usually give a lot, say, at least full tuition?

Thank you!

I have been to four of the five schools. Although I cannot answer your question regarding aid for internationals, it is doubtful that any would offer "at least" full tuition. My imnpression is that St. Lawrence might be your best bet for receiving a significant amount of financial aid, but you should be aware that SLU is also one of the most expensive schools in the US. Also, loans are considered a form of financial aid so do not expect 100% grant aid.

kenyon and davidson do not give much aid

Do your research and focus on the Midwest schools. Much better deals and great education.

thank you all for your input.
@ overseas: if you don't mind what Midwest schools are you implying? (by the way I am having some Midwest colleges on my list too)

I didn't list any since there are so many and I am only familiar with a few, ones that students I know attend. I would say schools that appeal to you. A friend's son attended North Central College. They were an international family and received tuition breaks. My son, though a US citizen, is at Lawrence University and I know many internationals are studying there and receive tuition breaks. I know an international student who is at Trinity University in San Antonio who received sizable help. Wooster College offers decent packages. The reason I said do your own research is because I don't know what type of schools you are interested in. They should have their attitude towards funding internationals somewhere on their websites. If not write and ask.

thanks for the good advice. Financial aid certainly is not the only factor taken into account when I decide whether or not to apply to a school, but it's of extremely great importance to me and I have to consider it first before doing any further research into any college - that's the purpose of this thread. Again thank you very much!

And how about Sarah Lawrence? Are they generous to internationals? All I know is that international aid is based solely on demonstrated need, which is actually a good news I guess since my academic record and test scores are probably unimpressive for merit scholarships. Plus I believe I will be an URM applicant (if I do apply).

Any input on Sarah Lawrence's international aid is greatly appreciated!

Well, you wouldn't be counted as a minority for statistical purposes; you would be a non-resident alien rather than Hispanic or African-American. To what extend do colleges care about diversity when they cannot advertise it? We will never know...

On another note, need-based aid is so competitive that you should consider it merit aid. Whether or not you get it is decided by merit, how much you get by need.

title: oxymoron

Haha! True True! :D

what do you mean?
