Are these scores acceptable for the ivy League?

are these scores acceptable for the ivy league of universities from what you have heard?

I scored a 680 CR, 680 M, 700 W

A friend scored a 610 CR, 620 M, and 600 W. Will these scores disqualify him automatically? ARe my scores ok?

Thank you so much! I appreciate it!!

your scores might be fine, but i would try for a 1400 on m/v at the very least.

your friend's scores won't cut it.

if you are a URM, though, both scores are fine.

thanks, but what is a URM?

yeh... it's not impossible to be admitted with scores like yours, but the rumor has always been that >700 in each section is "competative" for ivy-caliber schools.

URM-under represented minority(Africans, hispanics, native americans, pacific islanders)

african americans, is what i think you mean, madeinchina. africans are internationals.

does being a white kid of Middle Eastern parents count as a URM :-) ?

no............

although you could put african because north africans are mixed white/black/asian / anything lol

I hope not! I do not feel as encouraged by your scores as others for admission to IVY schools. Over 700 at least in all three areas, and SAT II's in 700's as well is the minimum. True, URM's with lower scores are admitted at higher rates than others with better scores. Yet, the formula for getting into IVY's is pretty stringent; and SAT's are critical numbers towards your academic index that they use to place you.

What about M: 700; CR: 720; W: 730? Is half-filipino, half-french considered URM in the least?

do u really think that the ivies use a point system? I am in the top ten percent of the class have a 4.12 GPA....hard classes great grades, recs and ecs, will my low scores disqualify me right away? I'm applying ed to Columbia and they insist that they don't use a point system...is there any way to let them noe that i really dont test well or somethign along those lines?? ne advice? thankss so much!
