Are my SAT scores sufficient? (not a troll)

Hey guys!

Alright, so here are my October scores, and I was wondering if they aresufficient for the top universities, with Brown, Yale, and Columbia being the ones I'm scared for.

CR 690
Math 750
WR 800
2240 total

Should I bother taking it or again or do you think my scores are sufficient? I don't want to risk admission just because of the scores, but I definitely wish to be done with the SAT for the rest of my life.

Thank you!

i’ll be honest i think they are ok. make sure you focus on your essays as they will be a big part.

To be honest, I would retake if I were you. For the Ivy Leagues, generally 2250+ is a competitive score - 2300+ if you’re a Chinese American living in SoCal like me hahaha. It’s really up to you though. 2240 is, no doubt, an excellent score, but you definitely have great potential to improve and get a much better score, especially in critical reading.

M & W are fine, 690 CR is low for those schools. If you get that up to 750, your chances improve significantly.

I would retake. 2240 is certainly impressive, but colleges put more focus on CR/Math. 1440 in these two sections is good, but may not be good enough for the colleges your looking at. Once you’ve hit 750 in math, the difference between that and a perfect is like 2-3 questions, so if your retake you stand a good chance of improving by a decent amount in that subject.

You should definitely retake if you’re a junior. If you’re middle to upper class white or Asian, without any bs accomplishments, sob stories etc, that score is barely acceptable at the schools you named. As cheerios pointed out, you’re clearly pretty good at math. You might even get perfect in that section. You could certainly improve in the CR section. It’s also especially possible to study for CR. Just get a review book and look at the lists of vocabulary words. There are lots of strategies. In general, smart people with high scores are closer to the extremes, and there is more error around the extremes, so your scores are going to be more variable than average. The odds that neither math nor CR will improve are quite low and you are allowed to mix the scores if one of them gets worse.

Cant believe you are all falling for this ■■■■■. Why would you think getting a 2240 won’t get you into a very good university??? Even the lowest score with a 2075 can get you into harvard and you are worried about a 224o? Putting your real score is quite better so that you can receive some advice on how to improve instead of seeking gratuitous attention!

^^Do you realize this thread is more than 2 years old?

LOL epic thread revival

When your applying next to people with 2380s and 4.38 weighted GPA not really. Definitely retake if I were you.

Dang it 2 year old thread lol.
