My son is transferring to Michigan and will be living off campus. Unlike his previous school that had a centralized mail center, it appears that Michigan still has residence hall based mailboxes for their residents. Does anyone know if there is a way that students can get a secure university mail address? I am concerned about mail/packages being left on the front porch of the house he will be living in – especially since it is on a high traffic road.
I don’t think so but call umich housing
If he gets a job on campus, there may be cases where he can have packages shipped to his work area. Otherwise I am not aware of anywhere on campus where non-residence hall residents can have mail redirected to.
PO box?
@TooOld4School beat me to it by about an hour. Rent a PO Box if you’re really concerned, but I wouldn’t foresee package theft as a huge issue.
You don’t want a university mailbox! My kiddo had one for three years, and had us send mail to her lab instead. There seems to be a black hole the mail falls into where it gets delayed about a week at the university housing addresses. PO Box is the answer for sure, if you’re worried about packages.
