DS is living on campus now. He will not be able to rent a mailbox from the new mailing center in the Ferguson center until mid July. Does anyone know if students can receive packages sent to Paty Hall?

Thanks for the update on this, sacto, that they won’t be able to rent boxes until July. We are trying to get correspondence sent to son, who is also living/working on campus, and this lack of mailboxes at this time is a big inconvenience.

Hoping to hear suggestions from anyone out there.

If your child is working for a professor or is being paid by UA, they can likely receive packages mailed to their department. Have them contact the department’s mail distributor to ask if they can receive a package there and the person will likely say yes and hold the package for them. Pick up the package on the day it arrives.

Alternatively, have them call campus mail and ask them how to receive a package when there are no student mail services and one doesn’t have a car or money for a PO Box at the UPS store. Campus mail might hold a package, but their location is kind of remote and requires a car. The main Tuscaloosa post office will also accept packages marked General Delivery (Post Restante) and the student can pick them up there.

You can still mail to Paty for summer housing residents, at least for a few more weeks.

Thanks UAHousing for the Paty information! This helps a great deal.
