Are we really done?

All these months of supervising....the apps are in and now what? I've been through this process before but the first time around I was barely involved since my older son (now a college senior) didn't really want my help. Younger son (HS senior) was slightly more open to me being involved, and we did some college trips together, and he has actually let us see his essays, and took some of our suggestions. So my question to other parents is - has your son or daughter received emails from every college by now? I asked my son to foward me any and all emails he has gotten as the apps have been emailed and there are 3 colleges that have not sent him anything which concerns me. One app was emailed back in November, and the other two in December, but he has heard from other colleges that he applied to later on in the process.....meaning yesterday and the day before. So I am wondering if colleges have different ways of handing this or if some mistake has been made. Thanks for any responses. Two of the schools who haven't emailed him are universities, and one is a LAC.

Some schools acknowledge receipt of completed applications, others do not. If you’re concerned about any you haven’t heard from, it’s not inappropriate to call and just get a confirmation that all required materials have been received.

Thank you. I assumed they all did. According to the common app, the 3 colleges did receive his info and have downloaded it on their end so he should be fine. I just realized we have something in common - Amherst College.

Ah… Amherst. Yeah, my boy is in the middle of his junior year there. Seems like 5 minutes ago we were in the admission applications phase of life, and yet here we are with graduation coming up in 2012. Tempus does indeed fugit.

I bet they know each other.

RE: emails…the way we solved THAT question in this household…we used the parents’ email address…that way we knew the emails would be checked regularly (some schools sent us info about missing items in the application, for example), and also WE don’t change email addresses.
