jsmith@nd.edu seems pretty elegant and professional?

kgallin@nd.edu seems alright to me. As well as gallin.1@nd.edu. Seems pretty "terse" and "elegant."

Colleges have automated systems. Your e-mail has "@nd.edu" at the end of it. If whoever you're e-mailing is pretentious enough to care about something as trivial as some numbers in an e-mail address, maybe you shouldn't be corresponding with them anyway. It's stupid. Stop being ridiculous.

In other news, get a Mail client, such as Outlook or Mail, which allows you to send an e-mail and have the recipient see your actual name or whatever you want in the "From" line. Problem solved. People can receive mail from "I'm So Awesome ROFL" anyway.

haha i would accept hrjewh58y4hfd@nd.edu as long as I'm going to nd! I accepted housing or whatever on the website, but are we supposed to do anything for registration yet?

freudian slip?

Seriously? Grow up.

Good one, I used to do that, then I turned 5.

how do we do the housing? i dont think i've seen anything about that yet?

You don't really do anything. Freshman are required to live on campus, and housing assignments are random. So, you need to play the waiting game until assignments come out.

Actually, we do need to do something. On the postcard we received, it said we needed to accept or decline housing on the website under first year studies.

quote:

"Notre Dame requires First Year Students to reside in an on-campus residence hall unless living at home. As a First Year Student, you can access your personal 2008-2009 housing application via Inside ND beginning at 9:00 a.m. EDT on Thursday, May 22, 2008.

Go to inside.nd.edu to access the application. Click on Student Life tab, then scroll down to the Residence Life and Housng box and click on Home Under the Dome to find your housing application. In order to confirm you eligibility and receive a room assignment for the 2008-2009 academic year *you MUST ACCEPT this application by 4:00 PM, Thursday, June 5, 2008. * If you will not be residing on campus next year - because you are living at home or are cancelling acceptance for example - you MUST DECLINE the application to ensure that your campus housing spot can be assigned to someone on the housing wait list. You will find additional information about on-campus housing and applications at orlh.nd.edu."

Hope this is of help! As stated, you have to do this because some freshmen opt to live at home.

you do need to accept undergraduate housing on insideND. all you do is go to the student life tab, and under residence life and housing, click on the "home under the dome" link. from there you just accept housing for next year, no questions or anything! it still makes me nervous, but if they say it'll work out great...

oops! sorry my post was so redundant

hahah no worries, at least we're all on the same page :)

My son just went through the accepting his housing application. At the end a screen says your preferences have been saved, but there weren't any questions. Is this what everyone else is getting? His siblings, at other colleges, were asked some preference, habits, questions, morning, night person etc.

toshima, there are no roommate matching surveys at ND--everyone is randomly assigned a roommate and dorm as a freshman.

My son was accepted off the waitlist on May 9th. He received his finaid package, but no netID as of yet. Does anyone know how long it takes?

tymeflysby:

I was accepted off of the waitlist too. Your ndID is on the fin aid letter. You enter that onto nd's website and get your netID and your email address.

Fin Aid told me the ND id on that letter was not the Net id and gave me no idea how to find his. Can you tell me where on the ND site he has to go? Sry for the ques but we are unsure. Thanks

tymeflysby -

To obtain your netID, you need to input your ndID. Go online at
oit.nd.edu/netid and follow the prompts to obtain your netID and password.
Once you have done this, you can then log on to inside.nd.edu to accept your housing. Justbumming explained how to do this in her post on page 2 of this thread.

But now I have a question ---

How do you obtain your e-mail address?? Am I just missing something?

you have to do the google gmail set up. you can find it if you put in your netID on the home page --> inside nd
