Are you a member of your college

college's Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society?**, sorry it got cut off
o.o wha.. what if the 2-year college we attended didn't have such an honor society but a dean's list? write it in additional info? Cornell is the only university thus far that has asked this question...

i don't really understand your question but I would say ya put dean's list in additional info. I was on the Deans list at Univ. of Washington and it is on my transcript so it probably gets listed on yours too.

From what i've been told although I dont know for sure there is a part on the Cornell application where it asks if you are a member of Phi Theta Kappa. That's about it I guess. Wont hurt you if you arent in

thanks guysssssss

Cornell asks for verification from your PTK advisor in either the form of a signature (I think) or a short letter explaining your involvement.

yeah. but this club doesn't even exist at my community college. so it's gonna be no either way, see what I mean?

ah yes I see - I would answer no as well then and it should be noted on your Dean's Recommendation Letter (College Official's Report) that you are on the Dean's List, though it's probably helpful for you to know that the Dean's List is typically very easy to get on and won't be a distinguishing feature of your app.

It may be different at your CC, but at mine one only needs to have held a 3.3 GPA over the period of 6 courses.

Yep, it is on the transcript, and I wouldn't doubt that it doesn't take rocket science to still be maintained on this list either ... probably like the "Honor Roll" in high school which hundreds of students participated in. You know, I always wondered, are you applying as a transfer after CC too? Cause you're really knowledgeable and have been here for a long time but don't seem so obsessed over the top schools, or at least don't convey it so much in your posts ... which is really a good thing actually lol :)

lol yeah I'm applying for the fall 07 semester right now. Trust me, I was obsessive about the top schools at first, but I soon realized that there are many other factors to look into besides rank and prestige and that it's not the end of the world if one doesn't get into the best school possible.

Good luck with your apps.
