Are you against Sports based Admission/Scholarships?

And you're not part of the common public?

As far as I know, Ivy League schools want to have sports as part of its operation/institution: they are allowed to decide for themselves of what they should and want to be - not what others prefer it to be.

No, I am not against it. I hope that some superstar athletes take your daughter's place at both Yale and Brown.

Some time complex logic is beyond the understanding of the common public and to them it sounds like garbage.

Says the person who can't even speak decent English.

Collegekid nailed it with that statement!

My husband has a theory. POIH is a hoax made up by some 17-year old to caricature Asian parents and to make them look bad. Given some of the comments that we have seen here and elsewhere by POIH over the past few months, I think he might be right. No one is really this obviously thick, right?

BirdKiller :"And you're not part of the common public?"

No, I'm not, as I don't accept things just because it is a norm or it has been going for years or some has established it.
I try to think and analyze so I'm not part of common public that can be pursuade into things/groups/sect without basis.

hawkette, seems about right. It's like something someone at my school would do :D

PoIH has got to be the most thick headed snooty person here.

P.S. Did you guys know CC has an Ignore feature?!?

philosopher4life :"Says the person who can't even speak decent English."

Logic doesn't mean communication since that is the extent of your logic.

I don't think I can get thru to you.

Meh, decided to remove this since I too think PoIH is a troll.

philosopher4life :"hawkette, seems about right. It's like something someone at my school would do"

Now we know why your brain works this way. Sorry it is the fault of your schooling.

Lol hawkette you'd be surprised. My own parent would say some of the things POIH claims. He also doesn't think highly of "those white people," and was surprised to discover one day that Ivy League admissions isn't truly meritocratic. I don't blame him either - my dad grew up in a country where meritocratic statistics were THE basis for admissions.

ParentOfIvyHope is a troll! good call hawkette. There simply is no other explanation for the level of stupidity this poster manifests.

Only in America.

Damn you Big Brother >: ( plan for Amerinada pushed back

Actually BirdKiller, as T26E4 has posted, Canada's fairly meritocratic. It's not perfectly meritocratic like most Asian countries, but it's fairly meritocratic nonetheless :)

CollegeKid12:"ParentOfIvyHope is a troll! good call hawkette. There simply is no other explanation for the level of stupidity this poster manifests."

Stupid are the people who can't hold discussions and resort to personal mud slinging. Have you or posters like you tried to reason things out?

But you cann't as your brain doesn't even work at that level so you take a short cut to bring down the poster who might be the one talking sense by resorting to mud slinging.

You are not forced to read the posts. If you don't like don't post here on this thread or where ever I post. But stay away from personal comments .

Keep the decency of the post and you don't have to show the whole world that your upbringing was not upto the mark.

I didn't know CC had an "Ignore" feature? How would I go about ignoring a certain really annoying and idiotic poster?

Collegekid12: Another proof that the common public (YOU) doesn't think and Analyze.

You won't find things for yourself, becuase you can't explore. You need hand holding.

"If you want to dominate sports then have a special academy. If you want to dominate research then have universities dedicated to that."

For the most part, its like that, with special "sports academies" being the USCs, Michigans, Floridas, etc of the world.

Schools like Caltech and MIT, are said research dominated schools. And users in this thread have already stated that at top ivy league schools, being an athlete isn't going to get you in by itself.

"Keep the decency of the post and you don't have to show the whole world that your upbringing was not upto the mark."

Wow, I am having trouble comprehending what you said (is it in English??). But, I will say that in order to "Keep the decency of the post," there has to be decency in the first place. This post is nothing but an idiotic rant against athletics. Get a life and do something productive. How does being a whiny b*tch change anything? Accept the fact that deserving athletes will get in and thats that...Why don't you "keep the decency" of this website by deleting your account and never visiting it again you imbecilic troll.

ParentofIvy- Perhaps the stupidist of the many stupid things you have posted is that a child can "take up" a sport to gain admission to a highly selective school. What about talent? You can spend hours and hours practicing or training and never reach the elite level necessary to be an athletic recruit at even the Ivy League schools. You seem to think it is simply a matter of being willing to devote the time to a sport- pick a sport, any sport- and into the rarified air you go! Doesn't work like that! Also, ask the kids who were strongly recruited by certain Ivy coaches and then, whoops, admission denied! VERY well-qualified kids, I might add. It can be a c rapshoot just like regular admissions.

How about this, everyone stops responding to PoIHs posts and she goes away by herself.

Silent Treatment really works guys!
