Whats the point of doing a sport and trying to excel in it if Ivy leagues don't give scholarships based on athletics?

Fun? Personal development? Physical activity? Social benefits?

Might qualify as the silliest post of the week. What is the point of only wanting to go to an Ivy league college?

what is the point of being on a debate team, competing in science fair, reading a book, exploring computers, trolling websites?

Why even bother excelling in academics or getting a high SAT score, since Ivy colleges don’t give merit scholarships for that either.

Because if you are middle or lower class and get into that Ivy with the help of athletics, you will pay less for college than you would at your state school! Or, shoot instead for academically elite non-Ivies like Stanford, Duke, or Georgetown that do give sport scholarships.
