Are you applying to Dartmouth ED?

Because I will officially very soon, and I thought there should be a place to vent/talk about it! I want to go to Dartmouth more than anything! What is your plan? Why do you like Dartmouth? What are your stats? Where else are you applying??

Current Dartmouth '15 here. If anyone has any questions, feel free to give me an excuse to take a break from studying for a Bio quiz.

(I’d prefer you asked here rather than PMs)

Heyy! How do you like Dartmouth?? Was it your # 1/ did you ED? What was your SAT/ACT? What’s the best/worst thing about Dartmouth? HOw is the workload compared to your highschool?

Dartmouth was originally not my #1 (it was definitely up there though), but now I can’t imagine having gone anywhere else. My SAT was 2400, but it’s really your accomplishments that set you apart here. I’ve met people that have done incredible things from doing immunology research at Harvard Med school to being extremely pro at skiing to a bunch of other awesome things. I personally don’t think the workload is that bad unless you are really bad at time management. There are people here who think the workload is super intense, but if you manage your time well (or you can learn to) then it’s not horrible. However, I’ve only been in classes for a week so my statement may change once midterms come up in a few weeks.

How are the people in general? I’m afraid stereotypes must be made here… Where else did you apply?

I really cant generalize people, but the closest i can get are smart, motivated, cooperative, friendly, and good at pong. Very good at pong. I applied everywhere, got waitlisted at quite a few places, and got it down to dartmouth and duke (as did a lot of other people here haha dartmouth and duke seem to have a ton of cross admits). Unless you absolutely hate having fun, i see no reason you wouldn’t like it here. Or you’re a big city type in which case you might do better at harvard, columbia, or penn.

I’m applying early, although looking at statistics people have been putting up lately really makes me question myself. But I absolutely LOVE the school!

That’s exactly how I feel! I want to go so badly… but I feel so inadequate compared to so many people on here! Especially with my sucky SAt scores =(

@WedgeDawg: Does Dartmouth put a lot of emphasis on GPA (UW)? S has 3.7 UW GPA with stellar SAT/ACT scores and ECs…Any insight on how much emphasis is given to the GPA in the case when school does not rank?

Thanks

How much does legacy help? I definitely fall in the top 75% with test scores and GPA for Dartmouth applicants without legacy status, so how much will it help that my dad went there?

GPA is important. Its relative importance is determined on a case-by-case basis.

There are a lot of legacies at this school. It will definitely help, especially if you apply ED.

I am applying ED…
My stats are a little lower than most CC’ers, so I’m a little nervous, but hopefully I have a chance!!
