Why don't we have a debate then? Comment on the main issues of the political thought (Economic, Social, etc. etc.) and then we can trade ideas.

I'm pro abortion and pro death penalty. What does that make me?

I don't think you can accurately determine which side of the political spectrum you're on from just two issues. But pro abortion (err...I think you mean pro choice?) is liberal, and pro death penalty is conservative.

I dunno. Far far far to the left on social issues, ethics. Conservative on justice and foreign policy.

Centrists: The group of the indecisive

Yeah I guess. it just sounds so wishy washy!

okay the pro abortion pro death comment reminded me of the funniest commercial i've seen in a while. and it wasn't meant to be funny

it was a campaign ad for some guy running in new jersey on a staunchly conservative ticket (no problem there, yet) and so it had like testimonials from real people, and one of them had a clip of this woman saying "Candidate X is pro life, like I am" And then it cuts to another woman saying "And he supports my rights to own and operate a gun"

And they said this with straight faces. Apparently this candidate missed the irony. I was rolling on the floor laughing. Sigh.

Based on your uninformed comments on Noam Chomsky, I don't think it was necessary to explicitly state that you're conservative. I consider him an extremist because he calls himself "a sympathizer with anarchism" (or something like that), not because he's a holocaust denier or he hates Jews, as you falsely assert. He just opposes the state terrorism of Israel.

First of all, I am conservative Republican because I support President Bush and his policies and I support the moral issues and foundations of the Republican Party for example I am highly against abortion, and I am not in favor of stem-cell research and gay marriage.

I do consider Noam Chomsky extremist for numerous reasons but mainly towards his advocation and movement which is anti-Israel, which is also defined as singling out the nation for its imperfections while nations who are much worse are not condemned. He is also a public supporter of the Robert Faurisson whom claimes there was no such thing as gas chambers in the Nazi concentration camps.

I never stated he hates Jews, however he can be labeled as anti-semetic (although he wont admit it because of his own meaning of anti-semetism) because of his campaigns in colleges and universities to divest from Israel because of human rights, Israel, being the only nation divested for human rights but he does not propose divesting from many other countries far worse then Israel of which are supported and invested on by many colleges and universities. That is anti-Israel and can be very well considered anti-semetic aswell.

But this topic is not about him, if you want to further debate, start a topic. :)

I guess i'm half way between the two.

a good centrist isnt indecisive, a good centrist is a good broker of compromises. without moderates, we would have more capitol hill deadlock than already exists (if that's possible).
