We had a great time and met some other parents with whom we later went out while the students went to a big party.

Ha Ha! Think you had enough? After visiting the school twice (one pre acceptance, another post acceptance) then the orientation, then the move-in, after a few short weeks you get to go back for parents' weekend!!! I remember thinking (out loud), "How many times do I have to go to this place??"

For most people freshman year is probably the only time they will visit that often, or at least that's all I anticipate. We won't be moving my son out so the orientation/move in and parents weekend will be the only visits (2) for the year. We only visit my daughters college once a year in the late winter or early Spring. This year, for the first time, I will help my senior daughter move in and then we'll go back for graduation next Spring.

We drove to get his stuff to college (1,500 miles), stayed for orientation. Husband had never visited campus so wanted to see where all his money was going! They had a lot of activities/info sessions for parents, including a breakfast and a cruise boat dinner (had to pay for the cruise). Great info, tour of health facilities, campus, etc. Son was happy for us to be there and attended several of the info sessions with us. We also got to meet with a financial aid person. Haven't made it for parents weekend, but we were glad we did orientation.

My wife and I enjoyed Parent Orientation. D did not enjoy student orientation as much as we did the Parent Orientation.
"They're preaching to the converted. Why are they telling us what a good school this is? We all chose to come here." The little darling hasn't changed a bit since the day she was born.
