"Are you interested in intercollegiate debate?"

Did anyone else notice that the Northwestern application specifically asks applicants to respond to the above question (or is it just for comm. studies applicants)? Did you say 'yes'?--and did you do it because you thought it would make the readers happy or because you've been debating for a long time/have genuine interest?

I, for one, only applied to Northwestern because their debate team is phenomenal. Just wanted to uncover the rationale of others.

I checked yes, and though I didn't apply to NU because of their debate team, speech/debate has consumed my life in HS, and needless to say, was very happy when I read that question.

My son also checked the box. He's going to their Extemp TOC in May. He also went to the NHSI debate camp at NU this summer, the first year they added LD. I think he would like to continue in college, but I guess that depends on how hard it would be to make their team. I've cruised around their web site and they are indeed phenomenal. My oldest does parli at Bucknell but it is more of a club activity.

I hate debate. Worst years of my life.

i checked yes because i'm such a big debater on campus and would absolutely LOVE to continue in college...and NU is known for their debate society, among other things...ahh let's hope it helps us get in! LoL. anyway, yeah blonde, i thought it was pretty strange but a blessing nonetheless!! =]

Debate is the coolest thing ever. GOD it's so good. :)

debate is hot.

college is hott.

college debate = hawttt.

Did anyone get accepted that checked no to that question?

i'm sure tons of people did
