I saw this test on Oprah. Go to google and type in "IAT" and click on the Implicit Association Test. Take it and see what you get. I was so suprised that I am one who "strongly" perfers European Americans to African Americans! I would not consider myself at all racist, in fact, a great number of my closest friends are African American. I even took the test four times-each time I got the EXACT same numbers! It's pretty interesting, yet really sad.

U STOLE MY THREAD....J/K but i already made a post like this... no one responded... let's see if they'll respond once i make the 1st reply.... HERE WAS MY POST FROM EARLIER TODAY:

This May Be A Random Post.. But It Might Change Your Life Or How U Think About People

I learned about it from watching an oprah show today. and i dislike the oprah show...... Anyways.. the people who made the test say that it always comes out that most people (hispanic, asian, african american, caucasion...ect) always seem to be able to prefer caucasions over african americans due to the fact that it is what people see daily... he said most times on t.v. u only see a black person being arrested, but u see white people doing good stuff, playing the role of judges etc.. but, he then tried a different approach, and showed people clips of michael jordan, collin powell, MLK, and oprah.... and the test results were reversed.... but it was only a temporary thing... because once they get home and turn on the t.v.... they are going to be exposed to an image of negativity for african american all over again. The other guy on the show was mixed, he loved his jamaican mother and he found it hard to believe that the test showed he "hated black people".... I forgot his name, but he wrote this book called: BLINK...

it's a good test, which kind of makes you think.........if you do it fast (that's how it's suppose to be done)

if anyone does the test.... tell me what you think about it? you can do it over again and most likely still get the same results...

Sorry! I really had no idea that you had already posted it!! I didn't mean to steal you post!

i don't care... maybe this way people will stop 2 read it.... the more replys they see on this page, the better.

You have completed the African American - European American IAT.
Your Result
Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for African American compared to European American.

At my school white people... or "European Americans" are the minority at my school, so even though I'm white I don't see many other whites. Of course that will change at college this fall, its going to be really weird for me to adjust to having mostly white people around..

But I don't get what it means by I have a "preference" for African Americans.

Haha. I saw this for 5-10 minutes on Oprah today, too!

Thank you for your participation. Just below is a breakdown of the scores generated by others. Most respondents find it easier to associate African American with Bad and European American with Good compared to the reverse.

Oh, cool. I'm a good guy. I am really curious about this test, though. Was it constructed with an assumption the answer would be bad associations and then go out and prove itself correct? Hmmmm.

I think the test order had a great effect on results. Initial test, Euros were paired with bad (when you're still getting used to doing both at once). Second time, African Americans were paired with bad (when you finally got the hang of it and was going as fast as possible). Still, seems valid to a degree.

I am white, go to a predominantly white school, but was raised in a predominantly black neighborhood. I have seen the highs and lows of both races and I see really no difference.

me for one.... i took the test... and it said i perferred european americans... i am a minority at my new school, most of my classes even at my old school.. were with caucasians.

i am african american*

yeah. does this mean i'm not prejudice? yay. but, really, the test was v. interesting....esp if you take it really fast, like they suggest.

im prejudice, with good reason. everyones prejudice, and it'll always be that way.

cant stop how you feel.
i dont find it that wrong anyways
