Are you studying abroad for something that's non-major?

So I'm midst finishing some applications to go to Rome, Italy this summer. The two classes I'm going to for five weeks are Architecture and Italian. The thing is, both classes don't have much to do with my major (Biology). I was personally doing this for the experience, and possibly for elective fulfilling requirements, but I'm wondering if this is a mistake. Has anyone ever traveled abroad for purposes not exclusively for their major? What do you guys think..

I'm an English major. I studied abroad in Spain and took all my classes in Spanish. Go figure. There were bio majors, math majors, and engineering majors studying in Spain and taking all their classes about politics, history, language, and culture. A lot of people do it--you just have to make sure that you don't get off track for graduation.
