Are your chances greater for Gallatin or Sterns?

I'm undecided and like most liberal arts subjects. Then again I like science too. Ugh.

I am either going to
a) do A&S
b) sterns because i like econ
c) gallatin because i want to combine aspects of each

obviously i would write more coherently about which program i pick, but are any of you undecided? what did you apply to?

i can't decide either. i was wondering if i should apply to the college or to steinhardt school of education!

a) It's called CAS not A&S
b) It's Stern as in Howard, not Sterns (singular not plural)
c) Econ is a CAS department not a Stern one.

Do your homework before applying.

A)I know economics is under CAS;however, my parents were both business majors so it also interests me.
B) Abbreviations don't matter. I'll use CAS from now onward if it pleases you.
C) The plural was a typo, and that does not answer my question

Abirch was pointing out that the economics major is within CAS not Stern.

i don't think you should base which school you apply to in which is easier to get into (thats what it sounds like from the title of your thread) because each school is truly different and its not always easy to internally transfer (esp into Stern).

when i talked to an nyu admissions officer in the summer, they said that if you even SLIGHTLY interested in being a business major to apply to Stern because it is easy to transfer out of Stern when you're already in it.. but almost impossible to transfer in when you're not. Stern is probably the most difficult to get into, number wise.

good luck!

Oh dear. I didn't mean it like that at all. I meant what you replied to. What is hard to transfer out of and such.

I shall surf more through the site, but I think I'll apply directly to Stern

Gallatin is much easier than Stern.

You can do economics in Stern;however the department is in CAS.

CAS is harder to get into than Gallatin.

Gallatin students can't get into upper level courses alot of times.

just some things to keep in mind

Hey - what is this about Gallatin students not beng able to get into upper level courses? Why not? This is not mentioned at all in any of NYU's material, but is of concern to those of us who got into Gallatin ED. If it's math science, it won't affect me, but in the humanities it certainly will.

Yeah, can someone elaborate on this business about gallatin students being locked out of upper level courses?

i'd like to know too. do you mean strictly business upper level courses or what?
