Hi Everyone!
I was just deferred from Columbia last week, and as of now NYU looks like my next choice, I love the the campus and atmosphere and i need to be in nyc. anyway, I'm having trouble which school to apply to. I want to focus primarily on history, but would love to incorporate some vocal performance and business into my studies. should stick to CAS as a history major and just try to get involved through other classes or should apply to Gallatin and try to make my own concentration?? also, if i realize that i'm not happy wherever i end up how hard is it to transfer between schools? thanks for your help all.

ahh one more question....im not sure my family would qualify for finaid, we are pretty comfortable economically, but 43k a year is not something we can jsut write off....should i apply for finaid anyway? worst case scenario i wont get any right?

kjayson....please dotn be soo quick to judge....i originally wanted to apply to nyu ed but my parents are paying for college and they said i should apply ed to columbia since its the only ivy im applying to. i just asked for an opinion, i dont know what the hell your problem is.

Hey david..
I definetly think you should apply to Gallatin. Because of the fact that you have interests in two completely non-related fields, you would be able to pursue both interests at Gallatin, whereas, at CAS, you would be more confined to one major. Also, at Gallatin you can take classes at any other NYU school, which would give you the flexibility of pursuing your passion for music and business, but with a concentration in history (if that's what you would like to do). But I would def. recommend Gallatin for you.

Definately apply for financial aid if you think you might need it. People say NYU is stingy with the aid, but my ED estimate seems reasonable... I think college actually going to be affordable.
