Are your fall grades considered during the admissions process? (CCC to UC transfer)

Do the UCs only look at the GPA that came with my initial application or do they look at the overall GPA when accounting for my fall grades? I’m assuming the priority deadline for the Transfer Academic Update would mean the latter is true, but I’m not entirely sure…

The UCs only count transferable GPA and they only count it through the fall when you apply. If you notify them of any winter grades before the admission notifications are out, it is up to that UC how they deal with it. They might take it under consideration, but the overall GPA will remain what it was after the fall term. And by the way, when you transfer to a UC, your GPA reverts to zero and you start all over.

In January you will be directed to go online to the *Transfer Academic Update page/i and enter your fall grades. You will also re-enter your upcoming terms, and note any changes from the November application.

Thank you for the response. So to answer my question, any Fall grades I enter in the TAU will be counted whereas any Winter grades won’t? (in regards to GPA calculation)

Winter grades if considered are UC campus dependent and you would have to contact each campus you are applying. Fall grades entered in the TAU will be considered.

Your point about GPAs starting over for xfers from CCC to a UC is an interesting one and raises a question…

If a student decides to go to grad school, are you saying that the student will only be able to share their grades from the UC? Or, is it based upon the institution? I’m just a bit confused how that works.

For Grad school, all college courses taken will be considered in the students GPA when applying which would include CC courses and the UC courses.
