Are your friends as into acedemics as you?

I think out of all my friends and some aquaintances I am the most person into academics. They HATE it when I talk about school/school related stutff/getting into a college in the U.S. I guess they just probably annoyed haha but we still help each other academically and most of them like it when we're all at school and they feel lazy because they know I will forever annoy them about doing work so I guess they like my motivation which inspires them to be motivated.

I really can't say that my friends are as preoccupied with grades as I am. This is probably because the super-competitive kids go to the local elite-public school. However, you don't always need a competitor to excel. If you really are bored with being the best of the lot, you could try seeking out the hardcore nerds at certain EC's that your school provides.. For example, my school has "It's Academic!". Hahaha. Well, good luck. :]

Now, I am all alone... as far as I know. Of course, in High School, there will be many other intelligent beings, and we'll probably get insanely competitive.

In 8th Grade, there were 2 people whom the other labelled "Crazy Nerds". One of them happened to be me ;). Don't get me wrong, I have a load of friends (we're all nerds :p). I'm just the lunatic outta them. The other guy and I... We were compettive. A typical conversation:

"Hey, you know that geometry test today... Did ye study? (snickers)"
"Yea, 29 hours, you?"
"... I didn't study at all, I completely forgot."
"Really? Do you wanna bet to see who gets the higher score, stakes being, lets say, our INTERNET PROXIES??"

Dun Dun Dun...

"I have your IP address and Remote Administrator programmed onto your computer into a hidden temporary internet file! I'll hack your computer using Telenet!"
"Nooooooooooo..."

Yea, pretty cutthroat ;).

There are only two grils who have higher grades that I. I hate them!! But they will go to a private uni with a fullscholarship and I'll have no one to compete with

My friends and I are all a little laid back when it comes to grades. We do get competitive, but we aren't really aiming for top schools. I think I am the most academically-oriented of us all. The rest of them would just be satisfied going to a fairly decent (and cost-efficient) instate school such a UMich. I'm aiming a little higher, maybe Northwestern. All of my friends are a bit nerdy, but in different ways (one is a classical piano freak, another is a computer whiz, etc.) but we aren't the study hard types of nerds.

I go to like an urban gangsta public school in nj and we have some competition , but not much. the top 5 people are like asian..chinese...then other "asian" people..white people... And the rest of the people fail.

lol ^ thats funny. Ehh most of my friends are dumbasses and like to party and stuff but my IB friends are pretty smart, I only have like a couple friends that are way smarter than me just because most people that are like to put other people down and it sucks. My friends that don't care about school motivate me to do good, I motivate them, it all works out.

*to do well

I'm very sorry I corrected you.

rahh i always use good instead of well. im gonna fail the SAT's. RAWR. thank you very much. :]
