This seems pretty mean but I'm towards the top of my class and would really like to be as high as possible. The thing is my school is only moderately competitive. Whenever I get a good grade I look around to see what one of the good "competitors" got and I secretly jump for joy and its not so much that I did well, but more that they are being set back a little. However, when someone who I know is rather stupid and low ranked gets a 100 or something I feel really happy for them. On the good side, I do help people if they need it. My spanish teacher was talking about how people in her high school wouldnt let you borrow their notes if you were absent, thats how competitive it was. I couldn't imagine that. Is anyones high school that bad?

When someone I know is stupid and beats me, oh boy. I get angry.

I'm very competive(sp.) by nature. If I know I gave it my "all" I expect to be the best and nothing else.

Our high school's not that bad, but there are a few that can get stuck-up.

My post seems pretty arrogant, but I don't like discussing my grades if I do well. I keep it to myself.

Yeah thats sort of the same with me. Most people don't even though I do well unless someone looks over my shoulder and goes "What!? How'd you get a (good %), that was hard!!" But when I talk about how I'm happy when dumb people do well, I don't mean them doing better than me, I mean the same and I'm not referring to the dumb people in my AP/Honors classes, I mean the dumb people in my electives (Journalism and Computers) who are no threat.

By our nature, it's only when someone beats us over and over that we do better.

When I hate someone, you should see my incoming test grades for the next 2 weeks. They soar :) If I'm out to prove a point that I'm smarter, I'll prove it.

Sadly, I'm also very prone to slack off.

My high school can be somewhat competitive considering that everyone who goes here got in through an application. Everyone wants to be the best, but everyone also realizes (for the most part) that only one person can be #1, #2 and so on. I have seen some competition in terms of confusing the confused even more, but everyone tends to help each other out so that the whole class as a whole can look really smart.

Wow I know that feeling, lol, though it's also applicable to teachers. Answered two direct questions wrong in chem the first week after I said I was aiming Ivy (which was stupid in the first place, I know) so that was kind of awkward until I broke the curves.

There are four or five intelligent people in our class but none of them seem very competitive by nature, which is disappointing.

Yeah, it's competitve. They try to sabotage you by telling you the wrong information. What the heck is up with that. It's really sad.

And they're so cocky about everything! It drives me insane!

There are a few of us at my school that are very competitive. Especially in the certain classes we all take together. Its a competition to see who gets the highest grades, etc. It's not so vicious, more in good fun though.

In my school, we have 2 differnt kinds of 'competitive'. There are those who secretely sneak around the class, looking at people's marks. THey usually try SO hard for 5min tests and ask dozens of questions to teachers and other smart people. But they never ever give information to others that really need it.

And then there are the other competitive (im in this one) where people are more relaxed and they share information, ask casually what they got (marks) and when it comes to exam time, laughing and joking about the exams but with slight hostility.. ie not really sharing much info but giving slight hints and things.

I'm pretty competitive, but I don't try and sabotage others at all. The #1 and #3 in my class (I'm #2) are both my best friends and we are all in the same boat. Sure, I wish I was #1, but who doesn't?

I am kinda competive I guess-I just like to know where I fall with my class mates and such. My AP Euro class is really competive especially between the guys-they basically have this menatlity that none of us girls in the class have no right to be there. ihave been struggling but I got the highest grade on our test on absloute monarchy-100%
It felt so good to prove that I belonged!!!!!
