Nope, and they never have been. Even in elementary school they weren’t involved in my schoolwork unless I involved them by going to them for help.

I think their hands-off policy really helped me. I love learning now; If I’d just been working for their approval or some reward, it might’ve cheapened academics and might’ve taught me that learning is just a means by which to earn something, not an end in itself.

Heh, my parents live halfway around the world from where I am. And even when I was still living with them, my mom would always provide encouragement, and occasionally try to help if I didn’t understand something (that was way back in elementary school though, when everything was still simple :P) but she would never EVER do any of my assignments/projects for me.

My parents don’t goad me to study for that chem test, nor do they take away WoW on Saturday nights if I get D’s, so they do not really interfere with my schoolwork. However, I would say that they are instrumental in doing well in school because I really want to please them.

My mom and dad never ask me about anything but expect the straight A’s when they see the report card. I think of this as a blessing, I wouldn’t want them nagging me to do my hw all the time, I like to work at my own pace. Plus the fact that they expect so much out of me kind of drives me.

no help. if anything, they discourage me… lol.

“i don’t know if you’re good enough to get accepeted into the community college” is what they’d usually say.

the night before a final, they’ll tell me to relax and say they wont worry if i get a bad grade. but if i get a bad grade, they go beserk on me.

Nope, i don’t have the typical asian parents for some reason. They’re so chill. They’re just like as long as you tried your best. But I go hard on myself for my own benefits.
