Area of Interest

Hi all,

I am asking students who got into Stanford, but does area of interest have an effect on admissions. Say my first interest listed is Computer Science, does that place me against all of the other people who have computer science as first?

I’m part of the Stanford class of 2020. I don’t think it matters because Stanford looks at the person and not what they chose to major in. You don’t have to choose a major until the end of your sophomore year but so many of my classmates are CS majors. With that being said if I were you I would pick another field of study and just change it when you get accepted unless your essays are tied to that field of study.
