Arizona State or Boston Conservatory for clarinet?

ASU and Boston Conservatory are the two schools I've narrowed it down to. I haven't visited either one yet (will do that this month), but I'm wondering what your thoughts are on which one is a better school for clarinet performance (and for that matter any other factors you think are important as far as location, etc.... I hear ASU is a big party school...is that true even among the music majors)? Thanks.

Congratulations. Have you had sample lessons (or prior experience) with any faculty at either school? Teacher choice typically is the driving factor in selecting schools for performance. Peer quality, performance opportunities and financial considerations also are near the top of the list as well.

I’ve also added your acceptances here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1045522-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2011-a.html</a>. If you’ve had others acceptances I’d be happy to list those as well.

Thanks! I’m still waiting on Carnegie Mellon but other than that these are my only acceptances.

I haven’t yet had lessons with teachers at either school. I am working on setting those up when I visit this month. That will probably b a major part of my decision.

Music students are generally too busy to party. But it’s up to you…just like no one at school can force you to practice, no one can force you to party.
