I have always dreamed about going into the Army, and basically it has been what I have always wanted to do. I have always dreamed going in as an officer, so my first choice was going through Army ROTC on an ROTC scholarship. Well I have also been talking to a NG Recruiter and I have seen the contract and everything and the NG will help me out with college. I want to do it, but I'm to scared to enlist, I don't want to sound like a wimp, but thats how I feel. I feel Like my parents are pressuring me into going into the NG. But I want to get an ROTC scholarship because I have already missed the split-option training, and I don't want to miss the first semester of college,Fall 2009 at North Georgia College and State University, if I enlist and I have to do Basic and AIT in the same summer. I also don't want to miss frog week which is very important at the College. So what I am asking is what I should do?

Have you applied for the AROTC scholarship? Are you a Georgia resident? Doesn't GA have some military scholarships for NGCSU? Are your parents pushing NG for financial reasons?
NGCSU has a great AROTC program. My S attended the National Leadership Weekend there when he was a jr. in h.s. He eventually decided to go NROTC so is attending another college. I would advise you to aim for NGCSU and go in as an officer if that is your dream.

If you don't want to interrupt your schooling and want to become a commissioned officer upon graduation then go with the AROTC scholarship.

Yes I have applied for the AROTC Scholarship.Yes I'm a Georgia Resident. My Parents are pushing me into going into the NG for financial reasons.

Wait on the NG stuff until you find out whether or not you have been awarded the AROTC scholarship. Surely your parents can wait that long!

Wishing you all the best.

thank you. I think my parents can hold on. I just really hope I get the AROTC Scholarship to North Georgia.

Remember, too, that you can earn a 3-year or 2-year scholarship once you are in ROTC. Become an officer. I was an AROTC scholarship student at UGA, and it is one of the best things that ever happened to me. Good luck.
