Around how long does 1 application take to complete?

Not including the essay.

Just the application.

Application + resume = < 1 hr? Although I was working from a resume I already had.

Without resume, um... 15-20 min? Depending on how long it takes you to deliberate over which ECs and awards to list.

How about you do one and time it? :P

^ How about you do one and time it?! :D

^ Better yet, how bout we ALL do one and time it, and then average it out? :D

Just did Michigan's application.

Took me around 35 minutes.

If you are doing the common App (as the one application) It should
take you 3-5 attempts at refinement of 1 hour each --> 5 hrs

** Plus **

About 10-15 hours refining your additional information section so
it is perfect no matter which of your common app colleges look at it.

This may sound excessive but it does get results.

Print out the PDF preview each time and have two others review for
errors; Also ask them what jumps out of your app and refine this so
you present yourself the way you should.

Given that the common app was used for 5 out of my 6 college
applications I thought the use of time was prudent.

^^^ Agreed. The more time you take on the app. the more refined it will be. Peer-reviews will help you catch stupid errors you won't see yourself.
