I will be arriving with my parents on June 28th for in-processing and staying at a hotel for a couple days. I’m hoping this will give me some time to see the local sights…Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, cave dwellings, Colorado Springs in general, etc. (I have seen nothing but the campus so far and want to see a little of where I’ll be living for the next 4 years). Anyone else arriving early to acclimate themselves before diving in head first at in-processing?

I'm going a couple days early, but I'm not traveling very far because I don't want to be all tired.

I'd recommend not trying to cram everything into the short time you have before inprocessing. That'll be your last legitimate time to relax. You'll have plenty of time in your four years here to see all the sights you want. If you want to show your parents around, wait until Parents Weekend

Concur with Uncynical. Don't think arriving a couple of days early will help to get acclimated to the altitude either--that process really takes a few weeks. You'll only be more tired if you try to do a lot. A hike in GofGods (or anywhere in the area) the day before you report would be particularly dumb.
