Art at Stanford?

<p>I know Stanford isn't known for it's art department, but how is the art scene at Stanford?</p>

<p>From what I have seen around campus, the art scene here is quite vibrant, though I am not sure how it compares to those at other universities. </p>

<p>As a mechanical engineering student affiliated with the Stanford d.school (which is the best of its kind in the country), I am most aware of the following art initiatives: </p>

<li><p>Arts Intensive: a summer program that allows Stanford undergraduates to study intensively with Stanford art faculty in small groups. <li><p>Stanford Art Grants: financial support (can be up to a few thousands) offered to students working on individual or small group art projects ([Grants</a> | Arts at Stanford University, Presented by SiCa](<a href=“http://arts.stanford.edu/grants/studentarts]Grants”>http://arts.stanford.edu/grants/studentarts))</p></li>
<li><p>STAMP: an on-campus group dedicated to politically educating and motivating students through theatre and performance. Pawn, one of their recent musicals, has just completed its international tour. </p></li>
</ul>

<p>I haven’t taken any art classes here but from what I heard from friends who have, they are OUTSTANDING. </p>
