Well, I'm starting to narrow down my list and I was wondering what anyone thought about the art programs at these schools:

Temple University
Rochester Institute of Technology
University of Iowa
University of Washington
University of Michigan
East Carolina University

I'm mainly interested in Metal and Jewelry Arts, though any information you can give about the general art programs would be very much appreciated. The only one I have visited so far is RIT, and I loved that. Also, I know that Tufts has a dual degree program with School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, so if anyone has any comments about that, please share. Thanks all!

I just visited UW, and was very impressed with their visual communication design program, but unfortunately don't know jack squat about metal/jewelry arts. The art building was a bit disappointing for me though- it was a beautiful historic building that obviously got an interior renovation around the 60's or 70's, and is suffering from it still. I was told by an insider (nice to know architecture people on campus) that it's slated for renovation, but since there are a lot of buildings on that list it's hard to know the timeframe for it. The overall campus and city were beautiful though, and the department I looked at was decently equipped with computers and printing equipment.

While I've not visited them, I know Temple's Tyler School of Art to be very well-respected. I found the representatives I met with in the fall to be quite snobby though.
