Art History major at top schools as a networking tool?

hey guys,

i have just finished my college apps; previously i had set my mind on majoring in biz/finance of some sort. however, some of friends who are super-well connected (think super legacy, Bush-style) have been saying that as i am not the most industrious guy around, i might end up better trying to score some connected in a course like art history at top schools, which is filled, as such courses are, with inherited money. (i.e. bet on nepotism, not survival of the fittest, as i am not the fittest). nonetheless, this really registered with me, as art history was my fav. class in high school, and if it can get me the same white-shoe finance job, then i am totally willing to do it as my college major, as my interest in business is a pragmatist, not an egotistical one.

i realise this might have some suggestion that is pretty close to moral degeneracy, but i am looking at this in realistic terms, as i feel that i can't just do this whole anal process i just went thru (spending hours trying to do the right things for the resume, so i can get into the right college, and so forth, and then the horrendous app process) again for jobs and again for grad school.

so, throw in your two cents. please, condemn not.
