Hi, I'm looking for excellent art history programs to apply to in colleges situated in BIG CITIES. While I know that Wesleyan and Williams are great, I truly am a city kid and feel the need to be within the confines of a large university as well. I am applying to Harvard and BU and I was wondering what other options meet this criteria. It would be especially great if they could be in the Boston area.

Well, Williams is simply the best. I'd say you should visit first then make up your mind. The museums and faculty and programs will knock you out.

If you're determined to go for urban and/or big try Yale, Brown, Penn, NYU, Barnard and Bryn Mawr (if you are female), Tufts (in affiliation with the Boston MFA), University of Michigan, Skidmore (okay, it's a small town). Wesleyan's not all that far from New York.

Williams is the best. But hardly big city. All the current and former women's colleges are excellent - the Pres at Vassar is a well-known art historian, and Smith and Wellesley have very fine faculties and collections. But none are urban.

Your best bets are NYU and Penn.
