I have been accepted in to my to top schools that at opposites! Parsons, the new school of Design, my first choice school and Mount Ida, a liberal arts college in Newton MA. I love both schools, but don’t know what to do! I may not have only take out loans for Mount Ida but would have to take out around 25,000 a year for parsons! Parsons is my dream! Help!!
If you’re eligible to file the FAFSA you can only take out the ~$5500/year federal student loan. If you don’t get grants to cover the rest and your parents can’t pay it you’ll have to choose another school. Did you get accepted to any schools that your parents can pay for without borrowing?
So there is no way to get loans over 5,500?
For mount Ida I would not have to take out as many loans if any @austinmshauri
Students can only take the federal student loan ($5500 as a freshman, $6500 as a soph, and $7500/year as a junior and senior). If you love Mount Ida and it’s affordable, you’re in good shape. Are there any other affordable schools on your list?
A few more, cazenovia and Suffolk, but I like mount Ida better @austinmshauri
But I have always dreamed of parson and NYC, I never thought I would have gotten in, so it is hard to let that go…
Having a dream school is risky. Are all 3 affordable with just the student loan? That’s a great position to be in. Find things to love about them. How are they different? Which feels like the best fit for you?
