Art Supplement?

<p>I'd love to study art, but my parents aren't too happy about the idea; however, we've settled on a common ground, I may go to a normal college (meaning not an arts and design one) and minor in art. </p>

<p>Now, the colleges I've seen don't require a portfolio if you aren't majoring in art, but I thought maybe I could submit a portfolio anyways, as a supplement. Would this be a good idea? I know I can get 10-20 pages worth putting by November (the date for early admission applications). </p>

<p>I'm no amazing artist (I'm better than average though), yet I'm a tad scared my portfolio could hurt me instead of help ... </p>

<p>A portfolio usually helps your application, but it does depend on the quality of your work. I agree, going to a national portfolio day will give you a better idea on the quality of your portfolio.</p>

<p>If you post some examples of your art and list some of the schools that you are thinking about, I think we’d have a better recommendation.</p>

<p>Thanks, sadly I can’t attend those, I’m an international student … However, once I’ve gathered a preliminary portfolio, I’ll post it here and ask for opinions :)</p>
