Hi, I’m a high school student interested in Engineering as a possible major.
I also have an interest in art, so I’m not 100% certain on what I’m doing college-wise. If I wanted to include art in my studies, would it better to attend an art school, or attend a college where I majored in Engineering with art as a minor? Art schools typically don’t offer classes outside of the arts, so that’s where I’m concerned.
You can always take art classes outside of an engineering major, even without minoring (though that is certainly an option). Many schools have gen ed requirements you could fulfill with art.
You don’t need to go to a specialized at school to do studio art. Most general purpose colleges have a visual arts major, and even many engineering schools have it as an elective, maybe even minor.
What kind of schools are you looking at right now?
Thank you to both of you for your responses. Right now I’m looking at schools such as MIT.
