Basically art is something that I LOVE and like I have been painting for my whole entire life. It is definitely something that I want to persue in college, probably as a minor, but the only art class I took was freshman year. But, all throughout high school I have continued to paint and do art, so I have piece I could potentially submit as a part of my application (again for a minor), but is it even worth it? Will applying to a school with the minor of Fine Arts if I haven’t taken an art class since freshman year hurt my application/should I just apply for my major with no minor?
I apologize because I feel like this is a dumb question but I just want to know if it is even worth it lmao thank you!
What school is this? Most schools do not admit by major (although some do), and I have never heard of a school that admits by minor.
Schools don’t care what you want to minor in. You can decide that once you get there and see how classes go. My D added Studio Art as a minor after her second year.
I am assuming you are a junior in high school, @imflopping
Have you started to narrow down your college preferences yet? Many colleges that are not pure arts colleges have an area in their supplemental section where you can upload gifs, or link youtube videos. There is a website called zeemee that a lot of colleges use to allow students to link visuals and video that they want the application committee to consider.
If you let us know what specific colleges you are thinking about we can tell you whether they consider additional proof of talent in the application process.
