Article in NYT for anyone worried that studying the arts will limit your student's career prospects

Love this article about Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.

My daughter has worked with a director who just got accepted to Columbia med school! He has an impressive theatre resume and now will be an MD.

That’s pretty cool - maybe he’ll participate in that group! There is a big movement to increase the people with humanities backgrounds in medicine. This kind of background wll help, not hurt, people who want to go to med school in the coming years, as long as they hae the grades in the prerequisite coursework.

@KTVoice, I have MT on the brain so much that when I first saw your post, I read “now he will be a(n) Music Director”!

@BassTheatreMom he will definitely skew the class up in age, he just finished his masters at Columbia and is in his late 30’s. I haven’t heard that he has done theatre there in the past but he does come here and work with our kids as a favor to her director. He is super talented and I hope he doesn’t stop, he will be a wonderful doctor… but I hope he keeps up the theatre.

@maMTma lol I totally can see that!
