you can use this format for 2025.Acting Acceptances by School - Class of 2025

Does anyone have information on the acting BFA program at Elon? Is it as strong as it’s MT program? Thanks so much!

My son was accepted early there. When you do the tour they have a wall of working mt alumni headshots and a wall of working acting alumni headshots almost as big. The acting and mt take classes together- unlike other programs. One reason it is tempting. It’s such a big question for programs like Elon ccm and umich where the mt is very strong.

Congrats!! My son was just accepted today. They asked for an answer by March 15th but he’s still waiting to hear from other schools. Did they give you a deadline too? Plus he’d like to visit first. Not sure how to reply…

That seems like it is highly poor form. I seem to remember something about that last year but can’t remember which school. Do you have a counselor to ask, maybe @soozievt has some advice?

@Robert26 Colleges are supposed to allow the applicant who is admitted to reply by May 1, the National Reply Date, so that they can weigh all of their college offers, as well as financial aid packages. I would remind the college of this policy and say you need until May 1 to weigh all offers and to be able to do campus visits.

This policy is through the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and their Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admissions. That states:
National Candidates Reply Date: Colleges should use the widely recognized date of May 1 as the earliest enrollment confirmation deadline. Before being asked to make an enrollment decision and to commit to an institution, students should have time to hear from each school that admitted them and receive notice of
o offers of financial aid and scholarships.
o admission to honors and other special programs.
o availability of housing.
• Members are encouraged to work with other campus offices such as academic departments, housing and financial aid to create a consistent deadline that does not require students to make a commitment or accept an offer prior to May 1.
oBinding Early Decision plans and recipients of athletic scholarships are recognized exceptions to this recommendation.
o Offers of admission should state if the deposit is refundable or non-refundable.
I suggest referring to this when talking with the college. Hope that helps!

Thank you very very much! This was so helpful. He’ll talk to his guidance counselor as well about how to respond without losing the offer. Because of the high school spring play he won’t even be able to visit Elon or other schools until mid/late March. Thanks again for your response!!

Thank you! Those no’s were definitely a let down. Rejection always stings! But, thankful they weren’t her top picks (although Ithaca was pretty high up there). But, I do appreciate Ithaca notifying quickly.

Congratulations! Wonderful news!

@soozievt FTW! You can also flatter them a bit and pour on the sugar - thank you so much, we are very interested but… (insert everything that soozievt just said.)

Yes! Thank you! I imagine they’ll be understanding. And it is a top choice so he is very excited! Thank you all so much for your advice. Much appreciated!

D received a similar correspondence from Elon after her EA acceptance in the fall (MT, but it sounds like the same letter). They seem to want to know that you are still interested (and haven’t accepted an offer elsewhere). She wrote them back, thanked them for the offer and said she was still excited about the program and would have her decision later in the spring. They wrote her back and said that was fine.
