Artistic Review Scheduler is up

Tisch Drama’s Audition schedule is up on the website today 10/1 for ED and RD applicants.

I believe that only ED applicants can schedule auditions (during Nov.) starting today and not RD ones. RD applicants have to wait until Nov. 1 to sign up for RD auditions which are held in Feb.

Susan, I had a look at the scheduler and it appears that R.D. applicants can indeed schedule auditions today, and not only that, they are able to audition in November! I don't recall this in previous years, certainly not way back when my D auditioned. The other thing I hadn't seen before was that Tisch is now charging an audition fee.

Also interesting, the cities available this year for regional auditions:
San Diego, Seattle, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Austin, L.A.

mamalu, the very best wishes for your D!

Again, Tisch Drama has made changes this year and scheduling starts today.

We spoke to Admissions this week and were informed that Audition scheduling goes "live" today at 10 am for both Early Decision and Regular Decision.
My d's audition is already scheduled (RD).

You can call and schedule through the department or it's much easier to go to the website and schedule your audition date.

Break a leg everyone!

I am terribly sorry...this is indeed a change from every other year as you used to have to wait until Nov. 1 to line up the RD auditions for Tisch.

This is a good example of why to always check year to year as these schools make changes!

Thank you alwaysamom and mamalu for posting these new changes and I am sorry for posting outdated information for RD applicants! I have a student applying ED and she already has her appointment made.

Good luck to your daughter mamalu!

ED applicants for musical theatre also have an accompanist during their artistic review :D.

Freshman ED Music Theatre: Tisch School of the Arts at NYU

Also appears to be fewer ED audition dates this year--only 2 for acting and 3 for MT.

Got ours today, too! RD for one of the non-Unified cities! Yippee, no travel for at least one of the auditions!!

yay November 12th at 2 pm! anybody else going then?

MTgrlsmom, yay, that is good to hear about the accompanist.

Funny, but earlier when I read there was an audition fee, I was thinking of posting, "hope they now get an accompanist!" but figured it would open the debate that has already been debated here many times about having an accompanist at auditions. I happen to think they SHOULD have one. Nice to hear of this change.

I recall a long time ago on CC, there was discussion about Tisch's audition. I posted some things I thought they could improve. Even though my D loves the program, I certainly am into mentioning things that could be better and I think their audition has very strong aspects and some things that may be changed (the accompanist was just one thing of these things). I recall at the time, someone from Tisch posted here and PMed me and said he was going to take that feedback to whomever discusses these things and so who knows? I think it is good that programs evolve and make changes. Maybe some of the feedback or discussion here made a difference, I have no idea.

PS...Arianna, I know someone going then but can't give out names.

Thanks so much for the info-I also just got my D's audition date and time for regular decision even though the original info said November 1. This makes scheduling significantly easier and a shorter trip to NYC.
Also, the website is very easy and you can print your confirmation right away-definitely better than a phone call!

Yay for College Confidential :D :D :D!

Scheduled D's audition for Austin! This information was so helpful...thanks!!!!!!!!!

I think it is really cool how people share information here. This is obviously a change from the past at NYU and I didn't know it myself and I think many applicants in this round do not know it (someone posted above that there was previous information this year even that said audition appointments for RD start on Nov. 1) and so it is really great that people share and pass on up to date information. As you can see even on this thread, some RD applicants found this new information here and got to jump on their preferred audition date!

This reminds me of my D's audition year. For CMU, you can only line up auditions online, starting on a certain date. It was supposed to start online on Oct. 1 that year but they didn't have it up yet. I checked each day. Then, someone else posted here at the very moment it went online on CMU's site and I read that and got the preferred audition date right away. Well, CMU lost my confirmation (I had a printed out receipt that it as paid) months later close to her audition, when I checked her online application status, but we won't go there.

Don't go there, sooze. CMU lost my D's entire application for precollege and then found it and then lost it again. Then they found it again. :)

I'm so glad I looked here! When I called this morning, they told me RD isn't starting until Nov. 1!

Racmom...yeah, I'm afraid those who don't read CC will not be "in the know" on this recent audition scheduling development at NYU! :D

NMR...I remember your saga well. We each have a CMU story to tell that took several twists and turns.

Hey, I'm still waiting for the promised CMU refund of the audition fee from the year my D was applying. ;)

Hope springs eternal, alwaysamom! :)

alwaysamom - you and me both ;). Although, hmmmm, may be that explains the very sweet email D got, when she told the really nice faculty at CMU that she was withdrawing her application :D.
