I'm considering applying to Tisch and have a question about their audition dates. I will definitely be attending a Unified audition but am unsure as to where - either Chicago or NYU. NYU doesn't post its audition dates until November 1, and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is (generally) an audition the same week of the NYC Unified, or in another city on the same weekend of that city's Unified.

Last year the unifide auditions were in NYC from feb. 2nd-4th. My NYU audition was on tuesday feb. 6th, so last year there were auditions within the time frame of unifides. I live relatively close (CT) so I stayed in NYC during unifides and left on sunday, and then drove back for my nyu audition. Id reccommend snagging your audition date on THE DAY they come out because I know last year I got one like 2 weeks after they came out, and my friend who was auditioning solely for acting tried in december and they were all booked up, everywhere in the united states!

Even though we were well prepared in advance, with apps done, the NYU dates escaped our notice to get the best times, (and it seemed like I was constantly checking...) but my D was able to get a date the Thursday before the NYU Unifieds, she did CMU the next day (also off-site from the unifieds).

Guys, when does NYU/Tisch typically post their audition dates? I admit to finding their Website very non-intuitive. My D also plans to audition for some schools at NYC Unifieds and if there is a way to audition for NYU around that same time (thus allowing us not to have to come back and forth to NY), that would be amazing. So if anyone can tell me when they usually post the dates, and where, I would appreciate it.

For regular-decision applicants, they'll be posted on November 1st. I found that info when I was looking for the online application, so it should be on one of the admissions pages...

For campus auditions at NYU, for the ED round, they start taking appointments via online or phone on October 1 and the auditions are on many different days in November. The date options are not given until the appointment making opens up on Oct. 1. Then the site allows you to sign up or to call (and DO it on Oct. 1! to get your best options). For RD candidates, same idea except they start taking appointments on November 1 and all the audition dates are in February (many dates). Again, I am talking of the on campus auditions.

You can make an appointment by visiting the Drama Artistic Review Scheduler page or by calling 212-998-1870. Please note that this link will not appear on the website until the date that we begin scheduling the reviews. Due to the number of applicants, we strongly encourage you to schedule your artistic review as early as possible. Artistic reviews are held in New York and several other cities. The longer you wait to make an appointment, the more difficult it will be to schedule your preferred audition date.

So, if you want to set up your appointment by using the online method, that page will not go up on the site until OCT 1 for the ED applicants or until NOV. 1 for the RD applicants, the day scheduling begins.

So, revisit the Tisch Drama Artistic Review webpage and look for this schedule link on those dates as it will not appear before then. Otherwise, you also could call the above number starting on those dates.

Again, there are MANY days in Nov. for the ED auditions on campus and MANY days in Feb. for the RD auditions. They are NOT all on weekends. Your BEST strategy is to call right on the date that appointments open up and you can get your first choice most likely if you call or go online right away that morning. Worked for us and for those with whom I have advised.

Do you need to apply to NYU before you can sign up for an artistic review?
[/quote]

No, you do not have to already have sent in an application to sign up for your artistic review. But you do have to send your application in by the due date (separately from the audition appointment making procedure). The application deadline for ED is November 1 and for RD is January 15.

Just a word of advice: they DO audition IN ORDER OF WHEN YOU MADE THE APPT. I made my d's appt. as early as I could on the first day of signups, and she went first. This may or may not be a good thing for many people. However, if you are from out of state and need to get a connecting flight or have some other reason for auditioning earlier, they adjust the auditioning times. At least they did when we were there.
