Arts and Science Requirements for Junior Transfers

Arts and Sciences requires 100 credits to be taken in A&S. Also, according to the following link, if one has externally transferred to Cornell, courses taken at your former college do not go towards that requirement.

College of Arts and Sciences at Cornell University

I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't this mean that someone coming into Cornell as a transfer for their Junior year would have to take 25 credits a semester (25*4 semesters = 100 credits) in order to graduate on time?

Also, according to A&S rules, one can't take past 8 semesters anyway.

How does this work for Junior year, external transfers to A&S?

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to get approval for a 9th semester in A&S if one is coming in as a junior transfer (as in 5 semesters at Cornell)?

Once you apply, Cornell will decide what courses get transferred and what don’t. When they do get transferred, Cornell will also assign the number of credits transferred for those courses. Even though you have taken 70+ credits, you might only get 60 transferred.

With those numbers in mind, Cornell will also assign you a status. It could be either second semester Sophomore or Junior. So, you might have to stay for 5 semesters to finish the program.

Not many schools like taking juniors.
