How involved is the community with the arts? Do students often go to performances to support friends, and do most students appreciate the arts? I know the arts building is fairly new, so it is possible that participation in attending events may not be very high, but I just want to get a sense of how the community feels toward the arts, or if it’s mostly sports based.
As you have partially referenced, Hamilton has an “arts neighborhood” near the center of campus. This includes the new theatre and studio arts building, a free-standing art museum and an art history building. The dedication to fine arts as manifested by this arrangement is exceedingly rare by nearly any standard and, by physical factors alone, almost must be seen as at least the equivalent to that which Hamilton shows toward sports.
Hamilton, in my opinion, is an extremely well-rounded school. There isn’t any one particular area (athletics, arts, etc.) that over shadows any other.
