I wanted to make a thread for all the first-year applicants (and their families) who got accepted into the Georgia Tech Arts & Sciences Pathway Program for Fall 2023 as transfers. Feel free to post your major and whether or not you’re considering this option
DS22 got into this program. But, not willing to take it, as he has other options like UT Austin, Wisco, UMD, UMin etc. Keeping fingers crossed. He is claiming that he can’t do the “major transfer” if he is entering as sophomore, instead of freshman.
Not sure what your son means by that but he would be transferring into his major. It’s a great program for kids whose dream school is Georgia Tech, particularly for in-state kids who benefit from free tuition. Personally, I wouldn’t take it over other good options unless it is a dream school or finances make it the best choice.
My son was offered this pathway. He is considering it, but unless he gets an in-state tuition waiver then he probably won’t transfer because he is attending FSU for free with Bright Futures and Florida Prepaid.
My son is considering this option but I am frustrated that GT offers no guidance aside from its written instructions. I was hoping a college counselor would be able to answer questions on course selections at his freshman year school so he could keep on the right track for admission.
All the information is on the Georgia Tech website if you Google transfer equivalency table. That along with the transfer requirements for a major will give everything that you need. It will tell you specifically what classes need to be taken, and then if you go to the transfer equivalency table it will tell you what classes at your institution satisfy that particular requirement. They gave over 8000 transfer pathways last year so I understand their decision not to provide individual advice.
